Some say waiting can be frustrating especially when the outcome is uncertain, but for DILG-CAR personnel, the wait was worthwhile as the DILG-CAR Barangay Center is inaugurated and opens its doors for use.

The repair and upgrading of the DILG-CAR Barangay Center (Multi-Purpose Hall Building) started on April 2017 and ended on October 2017. The facility was inaugurated on February 9, 2017 and the event was graced with the presence of Undersecretary for Local Government Austere A. Panadero. DILG-CAR key persons RD Marlo L. Iringan and ARD Araceli San Jose, with the City and Provincial Directors were present, along with the regional and Benguet provincial office staff.

The inauguration started with a short mass and was followed with the ribbon cutting. Part of the ceremony is the releasing of balloons to symbolize thanksgiving and the proclamation of the improved facility. The most awaited part came when RD Iringan accepted the documents and keys to the building as it was turned-over by the contractor.

The barangay center was upgraded through the initiative of the current management with the support of the Central Office to cater to the needs of the office.

The upgraded facility has three floors, the first being the Senator Nene Pimentel Hall. This hall is made to hold activities such as meetings and other events. It can seat to up to more than a hundred people and can be divided into four partitions for breakout or small group sessions. It is equipped with separate comfort rooms for male and female and provides a ramp for differently abled users. It has a wide stage for more visible and effective presentations.

At the second floor are rooms dedicated for the Local Government Regional Resource Center (LGRRC), Operation Center for Disaster (OPCEN) and Commission on Audit (COA). It has a small kitchen and separate comfort rooms for male and female. Also, it has an emergency exit which leading to the secretary’s cottage.

At the third floor are eight dormitory rooms. If filled up, these rooms may occupy sixty-eight (68) people all at once.  It is equipped with a sink and separate comfort rooms for male and female with hot and cold shower.  In case of emergency, one may use the exit at the end of the floor. It has a receiving area and a veranda where one can enjoy the city view and cool breeze.

Now, who wouldn’t be thankful for such improved facility? #DILG-RIO/scl
