The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed last February 6, 2019 the appointment of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo M. Año.

Sec. Año is a retired chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He rose to become commander of the Intelligence and Security Group of the Philippine Army. It was under his leadership that the military captured ranking officials of the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People's Army such as CPP chair Benito Tiamzon and NPA commander Leonardo Pitao. Año also commanded the military through the end of the Marawi siege. After retiring from the service, Año took on the responsibility of becoming an official at the DILG.

Congratulations, Sir SILG!
