“Nagpapasalamat ako sa inyo sa performance niyo ng 2018 and this 2019 let us exert more”.

SILG Año in his kind words expressed how happy he is to personally meet DILG-CAR regional office (RO) staff. At the time of his arrival, DILG CAR Regional Office Personnel were having their session finalizing Quality Management System (QMS) documents in preparation for the QMS Stage 2 audit. He admitted that it has been a while since his last visit to the region but it is because he has devoted most of his time to areas with serious issues and concerns. Nevertheless, he added that he is regularly updated by Regional Director Marlo L. Iringan of the region’s status on program, project and activity (PPA) implementation.

He continued by reiterating on the current government’s thrust on Anti-Corruption, Anti-Drugs, the Fight against the CPP-NPA and Good Governance. He emphasized on the Department’s responsibility to support and supervise Local Government Units (LGUs), that local officials should be provided with technical assistance as necessary for them to do their mandate, to govern well and deliver services to their constituents.

As he mentioned on Disaster Preparedness, SILG Año commended the region’s efforts during and after typhoon Ompong’s onslaught. He recognized everybody’s efforts to save lives, and although there was casualties, there could have been more have not everyone concerned done his/her job.

As he expressed his hope for the department to be the best of all departments, he inspired and motivated the RO staff by stating that they are the silent workers, who work tirelessly regardless of challenges, in helping make LGUs more relevant by delivering better services to their constituents.

In winding up his talk, he encouraged everyone to continue to contribute to the attainment of the mandate and vision of the Department. He ended by saying, “I did not want to miss this opportunity to be with you and mabuhay kayo!’’.

SILG Año arrived at the DILG-CAR Regional Office on the afternoon of February 15, 2019 to stay at the DILG Secretary’s Cottage to attend the 2019 PMA Alumni Homecoming. ### Sesvir C. Lopez
