Senior citizens may have aged, but they make sure that they continue living the rest of their lives and making them the BEST ones!

In celebrating our endearment for our Senior Citizens, DILG-CAR supports the City Government of Baguio’s Senior Citizen Officer for a Day (SCOFAD) program thru its Office of City Social Welfare which is “an activity in celebration of the Senior Citizens pursuant to Republic Act 9994 known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act that recognizes and values the great contributions of the senior citizens in nation building.”

On October 7, 2019 during the Monday Convocation held at the Sen. Nene Pimentel Hall, Ms. Evelyn B. Masaway of Brgy Ferguson, took her oath as regional director for a day, administered by RD Marlo L. Iringan witnessed by Assistant Regional Director Araceli A. San Jose, Division Chiefs and personnel. Ms. Masaway retired from teaching Math and Science subjects from the High School Department of Easter College. She brings to DILG-CAR her experiences as a barangay treasurer and secretary providing her insight into one of the department’s mandate -- strengthening the LGUs thru the local officials.

As the DILG-CAR's Regional Director for a day, Ms Masaway had the opportunity to look into the most current directive of the department on the road clearing and Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and was introduced into the role of the agency on such campaigns.

According to Ms. Masaway, her experience being the regional director for a day has been a worthwhile and an unforgettable experience.
